Dry Hair Treatments

Dry hair can make every day a bad hair day and cause hair to get split ends or even break off easier. There are home treatments that can work as good as any salon or store purchased treatment and often even better. These treatments range from deep moisturizing to quick treatments to add moisture and shine.

Hot oil is one of the treatments that can be tremendously effective and everything can be found at home to make a custom blend for your hair type.

Coconut Oil:

Organic virgin coconut oil is something that has become very popular to use for healthy living and for beauty type treatments. Numerous sources about the benefits of coconut oil suggest it is oil that can penetrate the hair strands fastest and with the best results. Using it for dry hair takes a few added supplies including a shower cap, hair clip, and a hair dryer is an optional addition. Applying it to the hair a scoop is enough and how large the scoop is will depend on the hair’s length. The coconut oil needs no heat since it will begin to melt as soon as it is in the hands. Massage it into the hair and flipping hair over the head it is easy to access to the underneath to thoroughly coat the strands. Then when coated with coconut oil, wrap the hair in a knot and secure it with the hair clip. After the hair is secured cover it with the shower cap. Then a hair dryer can be used to apply heat, but the oil will work without heat. This is a treatment that can be used before each shampooing, once a week or once every few weeks depending on the dryness of the hair.

Coconut oil mixed with egg can repair the effects of dry hair like split ends and fly away.

Banana Olive Oil:

Banana and olive oil can be used to deeply penetrate dry hair. The banana should be mashed until there are no pieces left and then mixed with the olive oil. This mixture is left on the hair for 30 minutes and the hair can be shampooed.

Pumpkin and Honey:

Canned pumpkin and honey mixed have natural vitamins and minerals that are good for the hair like vitamin A, beta-carotene and others. The honey has natural properties that can treat the symptoms of dry hair by leaving it on for at least 15 minutes before washing.
